On September 16, Vito Eme will release the single – Overdose – with Eboi who is known for his many performances with Adam Tensta in Scandinavia, Africa and the US. On the track, he raps in Spanish and Eboi spits in English. One of Vito Eme’s goals is to write new street vocabulary. With Overdose, they do just that, taking a word with a negative connotation, turning it into something positive, powerful.
The upbeat Latino rhythms and the elegance of Spanish marries well both with reggae and hip-hop, something Vito Eme intends to work -- hard. His goal is to constantly experiment looking for new ways to express himself and he has built a broad platform in performing and collaborating with hip-hop, reggae/dancehall and reggaeton artists worldwide. Vito Eme has a unique edge. His artistry, multicultural background and language skills lend itself handsomely to collaborations. He can just as easily synch with those doing a Swedish project, as rapping in Spanish on a major collabo with international artists.
Born in Valparaiso, Chile in 1981, Victor Manuel Mendoza Aguero came to Sweden as a 4-year-old political refugee with his family and spent his first eight months at a refugee camp. Growing up in a small town in Sweden he moved to Stockholm in 2008, when he felt that he had done all that could be done on his turf.
With a nearly finished university degree in media, which Vito Eme used to learn how to promote himself as an artist, a chance to tour with a reggaeton band thrust him into the world of fulltime artistry. He has performed on small club stages around Sweden and at big festivals, and in Chile he’s flexed his muscles at some of the biggest clubs, including El Huevo and Club Bucarest during his tour 07/08.
With his Swedish upbringing and blue eyes, Vito Eme sparks curiosity and provokes reaction in his native Chile; to the Swedes his Latino features are exotic and his foreign background loads his storytelling with multicultural ammo. His thought provoking lyrics represent something unique – in both worlds.
While on tour in Chile, the locals gave him shit for his “weird” Swedish accent, but after a while it stuck and people adapted this as his style. [Sweden has the largest Chilean population outside of the Americas.] He drew respect and pride by repping la República de Chile from abroad.
Vito Eme has also caught American producers’ attention, who flattered him by saying that he represents Chile world-wide in a way they haven’t seen before. His goal is now to live up to that statement and show the world what he’s got.
